masterpiece from the begining when David decided to wear that armor we witnessed his life slowly burning out he saw the unfairness of the world when his mother died and decided to throw a punch to it before burning out

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

100% the opening credits kinda spoils the end but even if they hadn't, everything that was set up/ hinted at in the show paid off. I wonder what cool named his fans will give him when the story of his exploits spread.

SANDEVASTATED

武士郎 • 1 year ago

my guess is either, the yellow blur or just D

MarkZ • 1 year ago

Nah, its trash, if he'd want to throw a punch he'd aim to make something better, not run himself and all his friends down for absolutely nothing.

Excuse me the ramble, but the reason this story lands is exactly because there is no miracle thrown in. The point of this story is to show the unsightly extreme of a corporate society. Capital has overwhelming power, it creates melting pot megastructures where individuals, the small people, are sold stillborn dreams of climbing to the top all for making them run laps for their overlords, all to lull them into playing this twisted game.

David, Lucy and the crew are not meant as protagonists, deuteragonists etc. They are another set of these lost souls, they are another group of NPCs a protagonist would pass by. They try desperately to achieve their dreams and in the end all they can make is a small insignificant dent in but a single cog of this monster of a system. They all get trampled, willingly or not they sacrifice literally everything for the sake of realizing Lucy's dream, and at the end her dream amounts to a glorified ticket to a county fair ride the system itself offers. And yet Lucy is glad, despite her dream being a false promise, because of the meaning David and co brought to her life in its pursuit.

This is a world where dreams of the small people are drowned out or grinded up to allow the perpetuation of an incorporeal economic entity, and the higher ups are soulless sentinels with no ambition or dream other than working for this entity. It is a tragedy, and a cautionary tale. And I 100% get what you say. It feels like shit, watching them race to their deaths, watching them trying to dream even as they understand how impossible their dreams are. What they went through, and they've realized it deep down, was all about holding on to their humanity until the end. This world is so cruel it strips people down to their very essence, makes them feel glad that they can still walk as people, or have even one person to care about in their lives.

It is a tragedy, and a cautionary tale, and as such, it is a masterpiece.

Honestly when she started spreading her arms I thought she was gonna remove her helmet and die.
She pretty much lost everyone and finally got to get on the moon and the only way to not have to return would be if she dies right there.

CactusGuy • 1 year ago

I thought she was gonna do that as well. Of all the ones I've watched this one hits by far the hardest and hurts the most. A masterpiece and one that I wish I could see more of.

MarkZ • 1 year ago

Basic common sense is no miracle, friend. There's a thousand ways to Sunday their crew could have handled it better if they communicated a bit and didn't charge in like a headless chicken. Also you're wrong about miracles, because its definitely a miracle they made it as far as they did without dying, and a double miracle that main girl survived all their fuckups and the final act and got to go to the moon... A dream she didn't even want by the end over her friends living. Also you make it sound like they're all working toward that, which is wrong, only David was, if you can call this self destructive thing working toward a goal rather than a random series of events which logically would end in anything but the set goal. And again, Lucy isn't glad at all, its just that its all she has left, and she's trying to make use of it since that's what he wanted for her and put his life toward, she clearly stated she'd prefer him to live.

No, it doesn't just feel bad, its written with zero understanding of the real world. Humanity? They kill people left and right, mostly ones like them, but also some innocents, which is what fucked David up completely and sent him over the edge. Cautionary tail? Perhaps, but the only thing it'd be about is the dangers of lack of common sense ... Perhaps corporations too, but not the creator nor the viewers and admirers of the show seem to realize how evil the government is, and that corporations are the creation of the government, not the result of some evil businessmen doing stuff for no reason other than profit. So morals and lesson wise, its as pathetic as watching a starving blind kitten bump in the dark without the ability to help. The feel good factor, well, as you said, it makes you feel bad. And as far as writing and story structure, film making perspective... Its just above mediocre. The result is yet another post modern piece of media pointing its finger at the sky and striking a cool pose, as if it has any meaning, and well, to the people that find such things cool - yes, it looks cool. What does it achieve though? Absolutely nothing. Well, maybe an entertaining watch at best, though the ending deducts from the benefits of that too.

Oh my, poor little fag got his fee-fees hurt?

No • 9 months ago

Why are you like this I am butt hurt with your words

Distressed Frog • 12 months ago

It's ironic how you call others "having their fee-fees hurt" when you dare to reply to a silly comment which is almost a week old, it goes on to show who is truly butt-hurt over the situation.

MarkZ • 12 months ago

Lol you expect me to be on the net 24/7 or something..? Mommy clearly spoiled someone too much~
But, hey, that explains the 'nuu, shut up' panzy attitude

Distressed Frog • 12 months ago

I'll bet my left nut that you genuinely believe that your witless third-grade sentences like 'Yo muMMa SpOiL yO' or 'nooo, sHuT Up!' puts you on a higher level of argumentative skills than the others when in truth you are just a disgruntled little brat who's gonna seethe harder and harder until the other person ceases to participate in your pathetic tantrum.

Why do i respond to hostility and smearful discriditation with the same hostility? Why the fuck wouldn't i?

negawatt • 8 months ago

Bro it's literally the Night City. You never played the game for sure.

No • 9 months ago

I guess by responding with hostility it will cause both people to slowly burn out of their hostility because their using it? (I don't make any sense ) You had reasons and I apologise for poking my nose in your matters

John T • 1 year ago

The time he had was limitied because of cyberpsychosis he didnt know how much time he had a week or a month before going crazy thats why he has been risking his life by taking the biggest paid jobs and making himself the vanguard of the team so that his team mates would be able to quit the job after his death

MarkZ • 1 year ago

1 - they are shown to be able to downgrade to avoid that
2 - there was no real reason to even get to that point, again, not like they where shown to have a lack of money

The only real reason he could have to get a lot of money with jobs which require upgrades is Lucy's dream, but not like that had a time limit either...

John T • 1 year ago

1- you can only downgrade up until a certain point david went full chrome conversion you cant downgrade from that only keep changing parts which requires huge resources
2-they do lack money they are outcasts of society with no financial backing and they constantly spend money for body parts etc

David's character trait is to follow the dreams of others and make it his own first he follows his mothers wishes for better education and life and then he follow gang boss and his dream of salvation for his team mates and Lucy's dream of escaping night city to the moon ones the cyberpsycosis effects starts to show he realizes he doesnt have much time to live so he fully focuses on fullfiling the dream of others

MarkZ • 1 year ago

-have money for body mods (heck, long arm (becky's bro) had money for gold plated hands)
-have money for guns and hanging out
-have money for cars
-have money for pretty big, fancy apartments
Yeah, no, they're definitely well off. More than that, if the goal was always getting her to the moon, they'd be living more modestly to try achieve that faster.

John T • 1 year ago

The money they earned from daily jobs is spend for short term upgrades and daily spendings such as rent for the apartment it is not enough and sustainable for the long term plans that being said getting to the moon is Lucy's individual goal which David supports but David also wants his teammates have better lives after he is gone so he keeps pushing himself to the limits.

MarkZ was just defending a Loli hentai lol this is Killing me 🤣 you know bro you're probably right about that.

MarkZ • 1 year ago

Ah, yes, because i'm totally the type to enforce someone's stupid imaginary rules over an imaginary room on the internet... Wait, no, that'd be you.

Sukehiro Yami • 1 year ago

Checking through your history-- yes, you have autism. I can even predict your response. Basically "durrrr you no intelligent"

I think you misunderstand.. an actual intelligent person doesn't make long asf comments

Since you went and assumed about me, how about I make some about you?

You're a man. Probably in his 30s to 40s based on your hatred of millennials.

You have a mental disorder.. probably autism or aspergers

You watching anime involving involving kids damn near fucking, and tried to defend it by bringing up age ranges in Japan ._. (you also assumed I lived in the US lol)

You're really a sad excuse of a human being ._. you're the type of person who has thought about Killing themselves multiple times, yet you don't, simply out of fear and spite at the world and you have little, at least, to no interaction with people outside of the internet.. get some mental help. You get into arguments with people on gogo constantly, and like the guy above, get clowned for your manic and deranged comments, even when you're not being aggressive.

Atom • 1 year ago

you ain't the type to do that but you're the type of attention seeking clown to reply to some comment in another anime's comment section EVERYDAY just to start a fight and get the attention you never got from your parents.

MarkZ • 1 year ago

"You're X!"
"Cool story"
"Okay, you're not x, but you're Y!"
Keep going, rage and foam more over your precious shit show, my useless precious raging muffin

Atom • 1 year ago

says the guy raging and foaming after trying to defend his oh so precious shit show loli ecchi

MarkZ • 1 year ago

What is it with morons and the inability to structure a comprehensive argument and mention the needed data..? WHICH show are you on about again..? The only thing vaguely in that ballpark i remember talking of in the past half year or so is Rentai flops... In which case i'm still not certain where you found the lolis, with them all being over 16, and certainly not matching the bodytype either aside 1, somewhat... And i found that show to be kind of shit too, so idk what i'm 'foaming at, raging and defending' there when i'm literally saying its bad. If anything, you're the one defending a show with a loli looking character in it.

Zura Da • 1 year ago

I'm enjoying every minute of it. This is what happened if artist given no limitation for their works. This truly one of Hiroyuki Imaishi best work along with Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan and Kill La Kill.

10/10.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Enjoyed it than disliked the unnecessary killing of Rebecca. Left the worst aftertaste ever. MC understandable but Cmon Adam Smash literally smashed one of the best girls to bits... Well, at least Lucy got to go to the moon.

Moral of the story, your mom can die anytime, you the MC of your own story can suddenly die without accomplishing your dreams.

F for my girl Rebecca, hope she didnt die a virgin, nobody deserves to die a virgin.

dre • 1 year ago

Lucy was the MC the whole time. Everything was about her. What did we learn about David's dreams for the future? The only thing we learned about him was what drove him into the current situation and then everything else was about her. All the side characters had zero development so you figured they were all going to die. Even the ED was all her. lol

Poor girl just wanted a piece of David's D but she never got that far.

Basedweeb • 1 year ago

Actually there is a moral

"A happier ending for folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people"

There are no happy endings in night city both in the game and anime

RIZER • 1 year ago

Fk man eventhough I saw this ending coming from miles away... it still hits so hard T^T That last moment between David and Lucy, that kiss,David's smile and when he appeared on the moon..... Ahh Here comes depression-kun.

Klaxxi • 1 year ago

Kinda why i normaly stop before last ep of shows like this same with assassination classroom cause they have an obv sad ending so id rather watch smt else before i come back to see it end cause damn its just sad but atleast it makes other happy endings seem better

Kirito • 1 year ago

I prefer this ending it felt like fast just like that

Kirito • 1 year ago

What's sad about this is Lucy still haven't told David why she keep hiding and why she keeps doing this to David her not going to do their job together and the previous episode they just kinda fight and next thing they knew their lives is at stake and they all died

Kirito • 1 year ago

If only David Martinez listened to his mom about going to school and just studying then he would have a good future but his mom died he joins to this cyberpunks and now they all died

Protecc ze Loli • 1 year ago

i suppose it dictates how hero adn villains never get any happy ending alike. Heroes sacrifice their dreams just so normal folk like us can live on and accomplish ours.

and what do normal people do? TIKTOK RUIN THE STORE CHALLENGE my ass

BanZai - Kun • 1 year ago

Hey there's a good ending in the game. You get to fuck panam~

MarkZ • 1 year ago

Its not a moral, its just a line that doesn't mean anything.

This is a good series that explains about addiction especially the kind that modifies your body like steroid addiction, plastic surgery and full on performance and drug addiction.
reast in peace my chrome buddy D, rest in peace best waifu Rebecca

pokeface119 • 1 year ago

It's actually implied they fucked each other after the episode when they kissed, hence he didn't say no when Maine asked him if he lost his virginity.
